A day in the life of a Gripen

The Saab/Gripen team are hosting a video about what it's like to fly a Gripen fighter jet.

A journalist is given the enviable opportunity to learn about the capabilities of the aircraft by actually flying it in a simulator and flying in the jet for real, but first he has to dress up in a G-suit which will allow him "to pull high G loads without which [he] would be unconscious."

The video shows incredible views of the Swedish archipelago and the Baltic sea as the Gripen dives to 50ft above the water.

The journalist tells us that the aircraft is designed to land within a distance of 350-400m onto tiny roads and landing strips to refuel and rearm and take-off again in ten minutes.

We also see how the aircraft is assembled and maintained.

The video may be 18 minutes 24 seconds long but it's worth taking the time to have a look.
