It's been a busy week on flightglobal with news of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' (MHI) Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ).

The company has launched the MRJ programme following the
commitment of Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) to order 25.

MHI will fund two-thirds of it and is seeking equity partners to fund the rest of the programme.

Flightglobal's Deputy Asia Editor Leithen Francis has been keeping his ear to the ground in Singapore as the story unfolded and reported that Vietnam could be the first export market for the aircraft.

And early last month Leithen brought us news that MHI will stop producing components for the Dash 8 Q400 turboprop by December 2009 and for CRJ700/900 regional jets by March 2010 for Bombardier to focus more on work for Boeing.
