In the archives: World Airways 727 in mercy mission in Da Nang

A regular user on Flight’s AirSpace, Goose, has posted this harrowing video showing how there was “rampant panic” to board the last flight out of Da Nang in 1975:
And here is Flight’s coverage of the story from the archives which describes how the panic by South Vietnamese soldiers trapped by advancing communist troops at Da Nang airport on March 29 almost caused the destruction of a World Airways 727-100QC carrying out a mercy mission.

    this particular aircraft is now in Ju Dong Taiwan and is used for training mechanics–the flight went to Taiwan with 225 souls “a record” and was then used by the ROC airforce then given to China Aviaion School in Taipei for training purposes.
