i am thrilled to see this competition as my uncle and auntie used to work for BA and they ran a competition to win tickets for the first flight of concorde and they won the prize they bought back lots of goodies that were given out on that first flight they were thrilled to win and really loved every minute of it

I was lucky enough to fly on Concorde once, just before they phased out the service to Washington DC.
We had a burst tyre while taxiing, and some debris cut through a fuel pipe or tank. Luckily we were at a very low speed so were taken off to wait in the very comfy lounge for a spare Conkcorde.
When the Paris crash happened, it made me realise how lucky we had been.

I was lucky enough to fly it three times - once as ballast when an apprentice at RR Filton and twice as a paying passenger. Well once I paid the extra and once I used all my BA miles and an upgrade voucher to fly on it. Magnificent.

My romance with Concorde started in 1969 when the night before we were married, my wife and I were sitting in the garden and 01 and 02 circled overhead. We met Brian Trubshaw later and he signed his book to us personally "With Happy memories of Our Flypast" There is too much to say for this small space but suffice it to say, I flew in her twice taking my wife on the second occasion when we flew to New York on the 29th September 03 - just 4 weeks before the end. Les Brodie was Captain that day and I was at Bristol to see him bring 216 - the same plane we flew to New York into Filton for the last time. the first flight was a trip around the bay which my wife bought for me. Dave Gunton being Captain that day. I have my own private museum on The wonderful bird and I hope to be allowed to display it in a local museum before too long.
The only plane that made the passengers smile on take off and landing. Total exhilaration.
