Com on! I thought that they woudn't want the 787 delayed more than it is and that Boeing would do everything in their power to not have a strike.

Boeing IS doing whatever they can. But they have to compete like anyone else. And try to turn a profit in the process, so they could avoid laying off the thousands of workers that the IAM leadership in my opinion does little more than pay lip service to. For all the good that the unions of the past have done for the labor force in this country, the unions of today really haven't been on anyone's side but their own leadership's for quite a while now, if you ask me. Just look at where UAW has gotten the American auto industry. IAM's membership is already one of the most highly compensated (direct pay & numerous other ancillary benefits) aerospace workforces in the world. The pride of doing your work right and job satisfaction don't enter the equation anymore. Nor does the economic hardship of union members when they're driven to strike in this wonderful economy of today. Nor does the financial state of BCA and the 787 project, already plagued with delays. The way I see it, the personal greed of union leadership is the only thing that really matters in this whole fiasco.

If Boeing was wanting to make profits, and deliver the 787 on time, they would take pay cuts them selves and drop down the special money they get each year. They get millions between them selves. Sheiks do the math Boeing. Who's money are they palying with? The Airlines. The airlines s/b saying Boeing get it settled and move on. Do it on someone elses dime. The union "IAM&%!" and boeing are at fault. Wait till you see "SPEEA"
