Is it me or the factory has a new layout (compared to autumn 2008)?

Yep, your eyes do not deceive you. There’s a different (leaner) set up on the floor. It’s been that way since August of last year.

    Hey Jon,

Do you have any juicy gossip on ZA001? How far away is Boeing from moving the plane over to the paint hanger for a fresh coat?

Is “lean” the idea behind all the scaffolding around the wings?

How long have the engines been hung on ZA002? Did I miss that previously or is it new?

What is the next step for this program – is it ZA001 going to the paint hangar? Would ZA002 be rolled out first?

Any word on how far along they are on reticfying the fastener problem?

As far as ZA001 is concerned, it’s still in the 40-24 (767 assembly line) building still getting outfitted. There are still numerous access panels opened and work is still being done.

ZA002 had it’s engines hung back in January I believe. and the fastener rework is completed on both ZA 001 and ZA 002. It’s on going on the other airplanes. ZA 002 is supposed to go out of 40-26 in a couple of weeks and it’s supposed to be powered on sometime this week. Not sure where ZA 001 is supposed to go next but the paint hanger is probably the best guess. As far as when, I’m not sure on that one.

Fleetbuzz carried some of the first pictures of the engine instalation on ZA002

ZA002 looks like it’ll have to move for ZA006 when it arrives for assembly!
