I woke up this morning to find some pretty spectacular photographs in my inbox. You'll recognize the plane in the photos, though the angle at which they were taken is a little different that we're used to. The following photos of ZA001 were taken from the traffic pattern over Paine Field yesterday afternoon. They really capture the proportions of the aircraft. So, we've got air-to-ground photos, now all we need are ground-to-air photos. A very special thanks to Igs who generously gave me permission to post these here.

Jon,
How much of these gauntlet tests are unique to the first (few) aircraft, in comparison to the checks that regular production aircraft will receive?
Thanks, as always, for your information and the images. You're doing a lot to keep this plane geek (in a totally different profession) happy.
On another note, is there any interest in a Flight Meetup for DC/MD/VA folks to visit the Udvar-Hazy museum at Dulles?

I like the space left for the other test fleet. 3 and 4 should be getting close to move to paint hanger. Jon do you know they will be rolling off the production line?

Just noticed from these pictures (taken in the last 24 hrs) that considerable attention is directed towards the APU area, Access panel open on body where starboard wing joins body (trailing edge)is receiving seervice, and cowling on Starboard Trent 1000 is open for busines.
This question is for the experts out there, is this consistent to pre gauntlet preparation or does this suggest multiple adjustments to what was found on the the initial engine start and system checks?

Matt,
Let me know if anything is decided about that meet-up at Dulles... I may be in Seattle, but a quick hop on a jet can fix that ;) I've wanted to see Udvar-Hazy for a LONG time.

I hope those pictures are not taken today. All those little carts do not look promising for gauntlet start.

Hmm, maybe it's my imagination, but somehow the 787 wings look more "birdlike" than those on other airliners...

Wow...amazing shots. I think that ZA001 is one of the most beautiful planes that I have ever seen. I can't wait to see her fly! Hopefully soon!
