Movie Monday is back and I was feeling inspired by my visit to the Air & Space Museum yesterday to provide another episode of Dogfights. This episode focuses on the "Dogfights of the Future" looking at new fifth generation platforms like the F-22 and F-35. In addition the show takes some creative liberties with the Su-47 or what may eventually be the Sukhoi PAK FA stealth fighter. The program gets even more creative with its view of Scramjet and space warfare, but it's interesting nonetheless. The full program is available in nine parts total after the break.
Also, if you find great aviation videos online, feel free to pass them my way. I try to make sure Movie Monday runs between 20 to 60 minutes, and that's really the only criteria along with the fact that they are embeddable.

i think it's great that the fighter jocks can have their billion dollar toys. but unless we take on someone like the Israelis, gold-plated bullsh*t like the F-22 is strictly a luxury. never have so many paid so much for so few. groovy video, though.

Haven't watched the videos yet (I will in a few hours; Thanks for posting them!) but thought I'd mention that I found the following talk (given by the guys at Nellis who analyzed the performance of visiting Indian Sukhois and compared then to the F-22) highly enlightening, so you guys will probably enjoy it.

I think the whole premise of the dogfight scenario is very silly. Only Russia, China can field that class of aircraft in such large numbers and the finger on the nuclear button would have come into play long before such an event anyway. The second and third tier adversaries would have dispersed their aircraft (like Iraq did) rather than send them up into the air.
The cold-war scenario of fighting from the cockpit is over. Obama should have a conversation with the flyboys after he's done with Putin.

Gotta love the B-1R: the future of attrition warfare! No need to fill the skies with jets, just load one with 50 AMRAAMs. At least we know that they will still find a reason for the B-1 to exist...
