Okay, we couldn't resist. We've been resisting for about a week now, but we give up. After all, every New Year deserves a new dog, so we present the new JetBlue Jet Paws program, an effort that the New York-based carrier launched to attract dogs, cats and their owners to the airways. The program includes special tags for a bag that the doggy or pussycat will ride in and a few other tidbits. As importantly, it gives two True Blue frequent flyer points for each mile (one for the human, one for the non-human).
Of course, some money changes hands, specifically a $100 non-refundable fee, and the animal (dare we use the word) must stay in a container while in the airliner cabin.
The airline has just completed a contest for pictures of cats, dogs, and the people they own, and will announce the winner soon. Above, we reproduce one of the entries. The winners get a free roundtrip for two, two nights in a pet-friendly hotel,
while second through fifth-place winners get a JetBlue pet carrier and a JetPaws travel kit. And JetBlue gets the bucks. But to judge by the JetPaws guide, some of the pet-friendly hotels are quite snazzy.

Jet Blue's program is a rip off Do not be fooled by phoney claims by the airline. A pet friendly program is not charging passengers $100 to $150 to put a smail pet under a tight space that is free for luggage and then treating the pet owner rudely as they try to comply with FAA rules
Simply put Jet Blue's crew is rude and domineering and not hepful when it comes to storing pets under the seat. In fact they are confrontational.
On two recent flights, I was appalled as to how they treated passengers who paid for on board pet storage.
They should be ashamed of themselves and do not try to claim they are pet friendly. They are not!
