Just my opinion but there's no obvious signs of blood, feathers, or the sort of stuff that's left behind when birds disintegrate at 600 knots. Maybe not a birdstrike after all?

Got doubts about the bird as well but.. My, oh my, that expert repeats himself so much!!! Is he taking his listeners fur a bunch of dumb people, or is he trying to convince himself?

The damage has clearly been caused by differential pressure resulting from the vacuum created inside the aircraft by the fact that Northwest's domestic IFE really sucks.

But take heart, Appliance of Science. Delta has a superior IFE system and if Delta and Northwest merge, maybe they'll aim for a little bit of in-flight consistancy.

Structural damage and a conked-out radar. Betcha it's a lightning strike.
