Q&A with Aircell on United, monthly passes and Canada

Aircell was kind enough to answer some pressing questions for me today. Here is a quick Q&A for your pleasure and my leisure. And then check out the awesome story now running on Flight Global's new IFE&C channel - Virgin America reveals Gogo usage stats. It also details its plan for integrating Gogo with its Panasonic IFE system. Did I say awesome?

Q: I have a quick question about the United Airlines trial - when will it begin? And is the trial still limited to a dozen aircraft or has United expanded on that?

A: United will begin its trial in the Fall of 2009 and will begin with its P.S. fleet.

Q: Can you give me an idea if carriers (other than Delta and VA) intend to offer the Gogo monthly pass? American, United?

A: We and our airline partners are considering the right balance between customers' desire for a 30-day pass and ensuring that there is a critical mass of airplanes installed so that customers who buy the pass are not disappointed if they get on an unequipped plane.

Q: What's the status on those talks with the new Canadian ATG license owner?

A: Unfortunately, we can't disclose any specifics about those conversations as they are confidential at this point.
