PHOTOS: Aeroflot's A330 cabin a big step up

UPDATE: Apparently this interior debuted a year ago. However, it has only just been introduced on North American flights. Boooooo. Still nice, though.

SkyTeam alliance member Aeroflot has cranked up the in-flight entertainment (IFE) factor on flights to North America by offering Panasonic Avionics' seat-back eX2 system at each and every seat of its new Airbus A330-200s.

The carrier, which placed the first of 10 A330-200s into preliminary service on a local route in December 2008, is getting vocal about the product as it is now being introduced between New York JFK and Moscow Sheremetyevo.

The A330-200 boasts 34 business class and 207 economy class seats. The IFE on board allows passengers to select "multichannel video/audio programs: the world's latest films and Russian films; international and Russian music videos; popular animation movies; musical albums by various performers; audio books; and interactive video games", says an Aeroflot spokeswoman.

What an improvement over the Boeing 767 in-flight offering!

Check out the new business class product. Where's the shag carpet :)

Aeroflot, meanwhile, is preparing for the grand opening of its new Terminal D at SVO in February.

"Terminal D will become Russia's main air hub at the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow and will be home to most of Aeroflot's domestic and international flights, as well as flights by SkyTeam members and partner carriers," says the airline.

"Terminal D will be the most modern and hi-tech facility at the Sheremetyevo airport and will handle up to 12 million passengers a year, nearly doubling the throughput capacity of the airport. The Terminal will also serve as an architectural masterpiece, displaying digital copies of famous paintings from the State Russian Museum and the National Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts."

And doesn't this look nice?!
