VIDEO: Boeing 787 Tour de Force

I’ve been a busy pup lately (as evidenced by my crazy hair!), but I haven’t forgotten about my awesome Boeing 787 twinjet tour in February. I finally had a chance to pull together a video blog with my friends at Not Bad Design. This is Airplane 3 (ZA003), the bad boy that is fitted with some interiors and now flying. Check it out!

Great update Mary, all though admittedly I have reservations about the automatic lid on the WC. It should work great for the ladies but if it malfunctions at the wrong time it might cause some embracement for the male passengers.

Its fine having windows that you can control the light getting through. The trouble is that the cabin crew have an override and wil be tempted to “close” all of them at certain stages of the flight. Speaking as one who thinks that looking out of the windows on a clear day is the best type of IFE, I was rather annoyed by a flight attendant on a long distance I was on who insisted on me keeping my blind down all flight.

    Hi Mary,

I have a question about the dimmable windows, please. Early on in the video, a Boeing representative was demonstrating the window and later you were sitting in a seat and telling the viewers about how to switch the windows using the button. Was that window you were sitting at actually a working window? If so, did you use the control to make it go from clear to opaque? If so, how long did it take?

The reason I ask, is that I’ve seen demonstrations at air shows where the windows took 100 seconds to do a full cycle, and people were actually walking away from the display thinking it wasn’t working. Have these windows improved the timing on this cycle? It seems like passengers would get impatient over that long a period of time.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Ted
