Photo and Specs: e.Digital’s new touch-screen portable IFE

Portable in-flight entertainment (IFE) provider e.Digital has scored a customer for its new touch-screen eVU handheld. SriLankan Airlines, which operates a mixture of Airbus A320s, A330s and A340s, will deploy the systems on various routes.

Here are the specs for the touch-screen eVU. That 20-hour battery life sure trumps the 10 hours offered on certain other would-be portable IFE units, ahem.

Avoid the first C and go with the second C in C&C ;-)

How does one keep the retention rate high for this gadget?

A second patt down from TSA after the flight?

Ah yes, the shrinkage question. I put the question to an e.Digital spokesman and he says: “I have had no reports of shrinkage from our direct customers, although it’s likely they’ve lost a few. Hence the importance of our proprietary encryption technology!”

    “shrinkage”, har hm. euphemisms.

Is that company “real” or a patent troll trying to plush up its patent values ?

    Their patent portfolio reads like
    “Boiling Water, reinvented”

I see in the specs that these units can go Wi-Fi

Any chance they are going to be used for internet access on SriLankan Airlines?

And can you put more videos of you on your blog?

It makes my day watching you on youtube.
