I picked this up rummaging around Boeing's booth at the Missile Defense Agency conference in Washington DC today. Enjoy.

These guys make war so FUN!!!!! This should be shown as adverts to kids shows so they can sell merchandise: ABL toys, ABL lunch boxes, ABL bath towels, shirts, hats, action figures!!! (See I could pay for this program off of the kids merchandise).

Should be shown in movie theaters too before the show.

Just like any combat jet, operation you should have a wingman on a strike in case the computer/various systems on your jet goes fubar. Example: Very important on CAS strikes when people are in danger and depending on you.

So where is the wingman for this bird in the video in case the system ( which is not a simple T-34 tank) goes system fubar?

Then too how many targets can it volume engage in a given amount of time?

I do like ABL, but the other side of that is: How many billions can we spend on how many different things before we are broke?

Airpower

Wow. It takes some serious skills to make giant flying lasers and exploding missiles as plodding and as boring as that.

There needs to be a prize for whoever came up with lines like:

"and when given the command to execute the deployment order"

or

"on orbit the ABL will execute the mission in accordance with the rules of engagement authorised by the component commander through the C2BMC system."

...and when I say prize, I mean smack in the head.

There are all kinds of things wrong with this video and what it tries to say about the (fictional) world of the ABL. One thing worth noting is how its combat orbit appears to cross far over a hostile border.

The lessons to take home would appear to be: Don't give 24 hours warning before you take your Scud shots – and when you do, disperse and salvo them fast and hard.

The space-based radar finally got the bullet this week. How many more bazillions need to be thrown on the bonfire before this crazed programme is sent the same way?

Airpower

Gee, I wish we had one of them doomsday machines.

– General 'Buck' Turgidson.
