Has everybody seen this week's poll on FlightGlobal.com? Here it is:

Will the USAF KC-X tanker competition result be reversed this time?
Yes - Boeing will winYes - Boeing will win 39%39%
No - Northrop Grumman/EADS will win againNo - Northrop Grumman/EADS will win again 61%61%
Total Votes: 1708
Poll ends on: 15 August 2008

No disrespect to our truly wonderful and hard-working dot-com staff, but I can't vote in this poll. That's because I think picking either answer would be incorrect, or at least incomplete. It's not an either/or question. I think it's more like both/and.

Just as long as it's not a techical problem Steve ...

There are indications that Boeing will resubmit a new bid based on the 767-400 which is comparable in size and capacity to the A330 Airbus, an agreement to extend the bid deadline to allow a new bid based on the revised RFP as required by the GAO may extend this until mid 2009.

This is far from over and will become an election issue.

Tom Reinhart, Jr.

Practicality needs to be the basis on which the choice of tankers is made. Which is the best all-around, and most efficient tanker - this one or that one? When the choice is eventually made go with the choice made, all other issues aside. Keep the decision-making simple and quick!
