The BF-1 short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant is grounded for a few more months until its engine is fitted with redesigned turbine blades. It will be years before anyone sees the F-35B in operation. While we're waiting, at least we have this sophisticated animation posted anonymously on YouTube last week.

Okay, so it's a VTOL, but can it maneuver like a harrier? As in.. Standstill combat maneuvers? I imagine all of that transforming would defensively be a very bad idea.. :S
Regardless...i imagine no one will be losing any of these in dogfights to come..
Remember in Die Hard 4? (live free die hard) They had a VTOL Aircraft take out the Semi-Truck near the end of the Film, and that thing did A LOT of in Flight Combat Maneuvers using it's VTOL Capabilities.. Now, i'm not saying it was really.. frankly.. i haven't taken a serious look at it. Anyhoo..
I like it.. Except when the tail jet moves around.. it kind of grosses me out a little.. anyone else get a little weirded out by this thing having a waggling tail?
Hey Anonymous - did you see in the description above the movie that said "at least we have this sophisticated animation posted anonymously on YouTube last week." Notice the word animation? Know what that means? Look it up.
To Cameron Graham AKA Sexpun Tocome, I can't believe you brought up a Die Hard movie to make your point. Not to mention that it was an F-35 in the movie...
Anyways, we don't have dog fights anymore. It's more of whose missiles reach the farthest.
It makes perfect sense that such system will be extremely useful for landing and lifting off from an area without proper runways. VTOLs don't actually engage enemies while hovering.
