This is becoming a real international incident. I thought Colonel Terrence Fornof actually praised the Indian Air Force several times in his YouTube speech. The Indians certainly came off better than the French! But, as you can see, the Indian press isn't really taking the high road on this one. This story came out today.

"TF is a member of the prestigious Nevada National Guard." That part was a good touch.
I asking about how to deal with employees from other cultures, in the course of my work, and was advised to be "very careful" (i.e. "don't") about giving "negative feedback" to Indians.
I am not sure how accurate or precise that advice was, and I lack the means to verify it, but it would explain the strength of their reaction here.
Or, to phrase the advice for any Indians here: Americans are famously direct and fourthright in what they say. The corollory of this is that, at least in my experience, they are much less likely than most to think, or say behind your back, anything worse that what they have said infront of you.
We need to keep in mind that these are the folks that demanded Richard Gere's head for the crime of kissing an actress. Same folks (perpetuated by the media) that ban pregnant women from being outdoors during an eclipse.
RobH you take one isolated incident of a certain section of the people in India asking for Richard Gere's head and equate that to all Indians!!!! How would you feel if someone said in an Indian forum about the Americans...like...we need to keep in mind these are the folks that allow an 8 yr old kid to shoot and kill 2 adults! These are the folks that allow teenagers to carry guns and go on a rampage in schools! Every society has its evils. So next time please dont stereotype! An Indian might feel insulted by what the Col had to say!He was gloating! I can say this for sure, if things had been the otherway around...you wont find an Indian Wing Cdr giving such an "analysis" to any audience! Was this not the same USAF that was dying to check the capabilities of the Su-30MKI? So i guess now every American can gloat that the Indian frontline flighter is a dud so relax guys just enjoy the party...we still are the superpowers...no one can touch us still...Duhhhhhhhh...
Up next... USAF-wide stand down for training on media relations. Apparently OSI's presentation on public forum comments (as based on Dozer's postings on Fencecheck) wasn't as widely distributed as once thought. Expect all candid conversations to dry up completely once the fallout from this event is complete. All we'll get going forward will be based on press releases, speculation and propaganda.
"So i guess now every American can gloat that the Indian frontline flighter is a dud so relax guys just enjoy the party."
That's not what the officer said, but why actually go by what he said? Just make up anything and then get outraged about it.
This is a pathetic media response - taking selected parts of the briefing, presenting them out of context in order to create a victimized scenario.
"...Again those awful Americans!!..."
The USAF Colonel gave an objective account that included many compliments to the Indian AF.
The USAF also admitted how they were trounced by the Indians in 2004 - why dont the Indian media mention that?
Well, I guess the US is out of the trials for the latest big Indian fighter program.
Ow...
That was a pretty savage cutup job of the briefing.
That said, there was a bit of gloating by the guy in the full briefing, but seemed to be geared to dispelling the myth that the MKI was some kind of super fighter or Raptor equivalent.
Instead it's just a very good modern fighter jet, whose pilots are still learning what it can do.
It's quite clear to any fair minded individual who has seen both this story and the original that the clips showed by the Indian media were not at all a fair representation of the sentiments & thoughts of the presenter.
For Indians to be offended after seeing that video is totally understandable and righteous, but I hope that after seeing the original presentation in full their offence is directed towards the news agency who invented this story rather than the officer, the USAF or America.
I hate to admit, that Indian media is the stupidest shitty media. The negativism is so much that the common man in India as stopped caring about them. Recently a blogger of Indian origin was made to apologize for the use of is free speec against a Media figure and outlet. The stupidity of Media was seen in India at four different times(major)
1. chandrayaan mission was sanctioned in 1999 by BJP govt, the media ridiculed the very idea of going to the moon, infact the even were questioning the satellite programme we have, inspite of the fact that India has the ceapest cellphone and telepone services, cheapest weather and mineral mapping services and satellite aided educational services for villages free of cost.
2. Godhra massacre in 2002 and gujrat riots. They sowed the only side of story from the moslem perspective and easily undermined the fact that 120 Hindus were burnt alive by the muslim mobs, the 2002 riots were a response from hindu groups.Unfortunate but natural.
3. Ramasethu or adams bridge project: A Unesco heritage site, prestine gulf of mannar which is a very ecological marvel was suppossed to be drenched in order to dig a channel for passage of ships(shortcut). The Adams bridge was proved by GSI that its a manmade bridge which souldnt be destroyed. Media supported the govt'S plan to destro it, while common man in India won the battle against it.
4.Hindu terror: The media outrageously termed indus as terrorists wow what a joke.
This one incident can be ignored again in wake of all these above events.
