Breaking: Fifth V-22 with loose bolts points to design problem

The good news is that shoddy maintenance is most likely not the cause of the "loose bolts" problem that prompted a precautionary grounding of the BellBoeing V-22 fleet earlier this week.

The bad news: it's starting to look more like a safety-critical design flaw, although the investigation is continuing.

Not knowing the spacing or configuration, I still have to ask... can they be safety wired? As a mechanic, I fully appreciated the deire to eliminate S/Wire from the tool box. But flight critical components?

Ok.
Why "design"?
Why not production? (part deficiency, production process deficiency) And why NOT maintenance? (tech data - mintenance standards).

BTW: even if he problems are production or maintenance, it does not preclude a design change as the selected fix.

Cart. Horse......that is, unless you're holding out on us ;-)
