Aww-kward! USAF gets victimized by photo-op, or Photoshop?

JCS portrait.jpg

Call it a classic shot of E-ring schadenfreude or a clever joke perpetrated by computer. Either way, this painfully awkward portrait of the Joint Chiefs of Staff currently making the email rounds is hilarious. For one, there is the inexplicably posed distance between Gen Norton Schwartz and his fellow officers. But the best part is Schwartz’s botched title. (Click on the image to see a magnified version.) Can’t the US Air Force get any respect these days?

You forgot to mention his uniform looks purple instead of blue… nonetheless, this does seem to represent the state of affairs in the Pentagon. Though, I really can’t muster up much sympathy for the USAF.

So much photoshop. Still, it’s funny (and indicative) even though it’s fake.

Definitely fake; The right side of his uniform should have at least a metal nametag, Someone dragged him Adm Roughhead’s side to create the gap

Seems to me to be a stab at the concept of jointness, often referred to as purple assets rather than green or blue. The question is whether the photoshopper was trying to complement the AF for its support of all the other branches, jab at them for trying to assume ownership over everything (UAV’s, LCA’s, etc), or jab at Gates for trying to mold the AF into a joint insurgency counter force as opposed to a high end air superiority force?
