The US Air Force showed off the always crowd-pleasing Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor in the 2:58 pm slot at the Dubai Air Show today. There are a few moments, especially in the first minute, when I lost track of the aircraft, but bear with me. I don't think I missed any big shots, like the F-22's famous J-turn, for example. Please enjoy.

Honestly, this has to be one of the worst videos I have ever seen coming from an airshow.
You were either drunk or your attention span is that of a gnat. And every time you loose track of the plane (which is every 10 to 15 seconds), you panic and start waving the camera ll over the sky!
My advice for next time:
Steadily focus on airplane, forget about everything else. When you loose the airplane, KEEP CAMERA STEADY and pan out slightly until you pick it up. Don't point camera at ground or building or security whilst you search around the sky. And lastly, you should look in the direction the plane was going when you last saw it. You routinely move the camera in a direction the plane could not possibly have gone unless it had instantly reversed course and moved off an thousands of miles per hour.
Quite lame.

Well, I can't use the drunk excuse. But you can see why our otherwise frugal newsroom bosses invest in proper photographers. :) I think we'll be posting more professional footage of the F-22 display here, if you're interested. http://www.flightglobal.com/air-shows/Dubai-Air-Show-2009-Videos/

Rob (Cohen),
You did an awesome job directing "XXX" and the "Fast and the Furious." However, it's time to get over it. This blog is by Stephen Trimble, not Stephen Spielberg. How ever lacking his videography skills may be we come to this blog for Defense Industry News and Insight. And we thank him for that. The pictures are a must and the videos are a bonus. So please take your depreciating attitute back to the youtube comments section.
