VIDEO: Avenger billed as ‘attrition tolerant’ alternative to F-22

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) showed a new marketing video of the Predator C Avenger unmanned combat air system (UCAS) at the 2011 Paris Air Show. The video presents the Avenger as ‘attrition tolerant’ alternative to the Lockheed Martin F-22. GA-ASI has developed Avenger by itself to offer a jet-powered, stealthy UCAS to the US Navy and US Air Force, among other potential customers.

Step 1: Outfit MALD with an afterburner, AIM-9X Block II seeker, network capability and a warhead.

Step 2: Load up Avenger with Step 1.

Park over Taiwan Strait during a crises and wait for the lulz.

Gotta love wearing a nomex flight suit to sit in front of a computer screen.

Jeesh, 2017 and we still can’t get the commander in the AOC a chair to sit in?

And can we stop calling this thing a “Predator”?!?

Wow, so attrition warfare returns with the Air Force leading the way? So much for 4th Gen Warfare.

I guess there will by many more “Predator Eulogies.”

USA was in a dream.Day after day we see some programs totally stupid when we know the reality: No unknow enemy, no superpower enemy, no alien invasion.
Seriously, they make and make so many unnecessary stuff for fight third world country or conflict like afghanistan.
USA start his own destruction, explore the universe, give the money to NASA, but plz, don’t give BN$ to make this stupid arms totally unnecessary, see today they are unable to make one new shuttle, need go in one russian missile…
    USA is definately stupid…

Have to love their political correctness. Why haven´t they picked comparison to F-35 or F/A-18E/F? That would be something – I though US gov. is looking for savings, why not to cut F-35 fleet and buy more UCAVs?

The United States Chair Force is proving every day that maneuvering is irrelevant when you are attrition tolerant.

    @sferrin

AEW&C? A handful of avengers won’t exactly be invisible.
And by lulz, I hope you mean WWIII. I for one am down for a laugh.

In all seriousness, do they really plan to outfit the aircraft with a miniature hard kill laser by 2017..?

Certainly it is an argument for less F-35s.
