VIDEO: MICA-equipped Mirage 2000 vs Vueling A320

This is what it looks like when a Dassault Mirage 2000 intercepts an A320 after the airline apparently suffers an on-board communications glitch. Note the 2-minute mark where you see the Mirage pilot snapping photos of the A320. Spotters are everywhere these days, I tell you! Tip: If you don’t like Kings of Leon, you may want to reduce the volume.

The French spotter says : no Mica on this one, it’s a Mirage 2000C, not a 2000-5F. IR-guided Magic II under the wings is all I can see.
    No offense Steve ;)

Great catch! I stand corrected. It’s a Magic-equipped Mirage. Bonus points for anyone who can identify the camera brand in the hands of the Mirage pilot.

    Looks like a Canon DMX-300 digital camera. : )

    Another spotter writes:

You can tell it’s a 2000C and not a -5 because it has a pitot probe on the nose… I mean, apart from the unit markings and everything.

I know people who would have paid serious money to be in Row A on that A320 – but they’d have been swearing at the Mirage for being against the sun the whole time…

Vueling should start running special interception trips – they’d be minted!

And nobody mooned the Mirage? Opportunity lost…
