We like a bit of Friday eccentricity here on The DEW Line, so this image of a full-size Supermarine Spitfire replica constructed from egg boxes seemed like an, ahem, “cracking” opportunity.
Friday fun: an egg-xtra special fighter

On show at the fabulous Imperial War Museum at Duxford, Cambridgeshire, and photographed here by Rex Features, the model is made from 6,500 egg boxes, 10,000 staples, 5,000 nails and five litres of glue.
As for why, it’s to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes. Surely that’s reason un-oeuf?
