PICTURE: Brothers in arms

The UK Ministry of Defence has released a series of stunning Crown Copyright images from an ongoing air exercise involving the Royal Air Force and its French counterpart.

Being staged as part of the multinational ‘Joint Warrior’ event, the allies’ Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Mirage 2000N communities have got together, for a ‘Capable Eagle’ series of flights being conducted from Leeming in Yorkshire.

Also taking part are Panavia Tornado GR4 and Dassault Rafale strike aircraft from the respective services.

I’m not sure that I fully agree with the RAF press release’s claim that “The havoc wreaked on Muammar Gaddafi’s armoured forces by joint Typhoon and Rafale operations was one of the major factors that brought the conflict to an early end”, as the GR4/Brimstone combination was the UK’s most formidable threat, but it’s good to see the services working together closely again.
