Taking inspiration from the Asia and South Pacific Initiative to Reduce Emissions (Aspire), an agreement has been signed for a similar pact covering the Indian Ocean region.
The Indian Ocean Strategic Partnership to Reduce Emissions (Inspire) will see Airservices Australia, Airports Authority of India and Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) of South Africa team up to develop procedures to cut emissions during all stages of flight, from gate-to-gate.
As we wrote last month, Aspire recently launched the first daily transpacific city pair to put into practice the fuel-saving techniques gathered during its research stage.
Inspire will be looking to do a similar thing to address and reduce the environmental impact of the strong growth in air travel in the Indian Ocean region.
