Alitalia has stated that it plans to launch services to Abu Dhabi and Seoul in 2012, and to add Delhi and Johannesburg in 2013. This will complement its planned Beijing and Rio De Janeiro services this year.
The airline has likely opted to operate Delhi - Rome, opposed to Mumbai - Rome due to the higher O&D demand.
It is expected that the carrier would operate Rome - Abu Dhabi, while codesharing with Etihad's service out of Milan. AZ will codeshare on EY's routes to the Indian sub-continent, Australia and East Asia. EY will codeshare on AZ's routes to unserved European points.
