SIA and Transaero apply for Russia – US codeshare

Singapore Airlines (IATA:SQ) and Transaero (IATA:UN) have jointly filed an application to the US DoT for codesharing on the former’s Moscow (DME) – Houston route.
As per the application, Transaero requests the authority to connect passengers from anywhere in Russia to the US, via the SQ service. The two airlines plan to make the codeshare effective as soon as the approval is received.
Singapore Airlines has been very successful on getting First class, Business class and cargo loads on its Singapore – Moscow – Houston flight, but has been struggling to find Economy class passengers. The carrier’s average load factor into Houston averaged 57% inbound and 51% outbound for the month of April, 2011.
