Australian charter and scheduled passenger airline Strategic Airlines has applied to the US Department of Transportation (DoT) for permission to operate flights between Australia, the USA and a third country.
The airline has stated that it plans to launch a route connecting Brisbane with Honolulu in Hawaii. The airline will be leasing an Airbus A330-200 from a Switzerland based company for the operation.
Strategic has also applied for the right to operate charter flights between Australia and the US. It has already received the approval from the Australian authorities for the proposed operations.
Strategic has been an ACMI, charter operator for the most part but has recently begun operating some scheduled routes. This will make Strategic the third Australian airline to enter the Australia - US market.
