Tornado and Tucano (very) close encounter

I suppose this barely merits a mention in the annals of the UK low flying system. Slightly alarming for anyone else though.

Discussion here.

Didn’t want to intrude, not associated with the aviation industry, read a story in the paper, curious. So if you have put it on the WWW it did happen and then you removed it. There were no radar images, there were no flight controllers, no Pilots, no profanities, and when it got to the newspapers I saw it in the Sun. Bit late to remove it from the WWW.

OK, to be clear, we at Flight didn’t publish it in the first place. Somebody published it on Youtube – I’ve got no idea who that was, although presumably they are or were connected to the RAF.

And I don’t know who removed it, although I assume somebody in the military took a certain view of it.

For information, aircraft in high-energy manoeuvres at low-level are not ‘controlled’ by anyone other than the pilots. They may or may not be noticeable on radar depending on local coverage, but that’s largely coincidental.

I can’t remember if there were profanities on the movie or not – although I’m quite surprised if there wasn’t at least one!

So I found another copy of the movie on a different site and added it above. I’ve retained the still of the earlier one just to preserve the record.

Be interesting to see if the MoD, or whoever it is, continues trying to put the toothpaste back into the tube.
