Anyone know anymore about this one? And ideally have the original pictures, which my contact doesn't have? (Better still - the CVR tape!) Clearly it's a Delta Connection Bombardier CRJ of some flavour and equally clearly the crew have a story to tell their children, (which fortunately I guess they will have the option of having.)

These photos show the results of an electrical fire in the cockpit circuit breaker panel of a Comair CRJ2 which ocurred while the aircraft was loading passengers recently at an airport in Florida. The aircraft was evacuated safely.

It was actually ASA not Comair, my friend is an FO with the company, additionally the logo is right in the pic. Happened as the aircraft was being powered up for the first time that morning in KTLH. I was told boarding had not occurred yet, which sounds consistent as the FAs have checks to do in the back while the Flight crew is running 1st flight checks up front. Cause is still under investigation.

This happened 28 Feb @ TLH and one pilot and one F/a were the only people on board. Both escaped safely.

Latest I've been informed is the cockpit oxygen supply line (connected to O2 bottles, vs. chemical O2 generators for the cabin area) somehow caught on fire, which likely explained the intense heat damage shown in the pics.

The ground power supplied to the airplane shorted out, and started a fire behind the captain. There's an O2 mask for the jumpseater, and the O2 lines that supply it run behind the captain as well. When the fire burnt through the line, it got pretty toasty! It was an ASA CR2 in Tallahassee; the Capt. and the FA were the only one on board and they escaped. FO was doing the walkaround. A/C had ground power issues before - the plane didn't want to take it - and apparently the ground crew was trying to force the power to stay on the plane.
