I would say it is true. Else, who would have thought of putting that small bit of... is it wool? at the rear of the horizontal plane, in front of the camera? Looks like an air stream indicator...

Maybe, or perhaps it's just there to help fly the aircraft??? The turn-and-slip indicator not having been invented obviously.
