So chapeaux off to Commandant Virginie Guyot, first featured in this blog just about a year ago, and who is this year leading the Patrouille de France.
Apparently those more in the know than I realised this was going to
happen when she was named as number four last year - the standard route
to the leadership in the Patrouille. Intriguing explanation from illustrious airshow commentator Sean Maffett here.
Anyway, she's now well and truly the boss...

...and gets to meet the President's wife, giving me the opportunity to run this picture...

...because after all I'm just a bloke, and you know what we're like.

Always good to see an aviatrix at the top of her game... no pressure Kirsty (Moore)!

Most distracting.
Arrows get a lady, Arrows ding a Hawk.
Patrouille get a lady, Patrouille ding an Alpha Jet.
Just sayin', ya know?

She may be a fast jet driver but I'd take Svetlana Kaplanina in her Su 29 any day. I'm suddenly feeling all light headed!

Or even 'Kapanina' spelt right!

Esquadrilha da Fumaça don't get a lady, catastrophically ding a Tucano.

Thank you Kieran!
Saw the PAF last year in Cayenne (with Virginie Guyot at #4 position), had a great view of the esquadrilha da Fumaca from a 12th floor window facing Copacabana last week, and had a great smile from this article. Not the ladies who dinged the craft, was it? Learn to deal with distraction, boys!
