Air India’s Melbourne saga continues

Air India’s on-again, off-again saga of serving Australia via a service to Melbourne continues this week with a Melbourne airport spokeswoman saying it is a question of when and not if the carrier will touchdown at Melbourne.

“We are still waiting on confirmation of a launch date from Air India,” she says.

Separately and perhaps in a boost of confidence, Air India says its national Ministry of Civil Aviation has given it traffic rights for a daily New Delhi-Melbourne service, according to The Hub Routes.

For many, however, this saga is a “I’ll believe it when I see it” matter.
