The MD-11F is the freighter version of the MD-11 and features a 2.59m x 3.56m port forward upward opening cargo door. The MD-11F can accommodate a maximum twenty six LD-7 pallets on the main deck and thirty two LD3 containers in the under floor hold. The MD-11F is certified for the carriage of four persons in addition to the crew. Fifty three MD-11Fs were built, the first delivery of twenty one taking place on 29/05/91 to FedEx Express and the final aircraft to Lufthansa Cargo on 22/02/2001 which was also the last MD-11 produced. The MD-11 has proved popular as a freighter and has seen over sixty passenger aircraft converted to MD-11F configuration. In August 2005 there were one hundred and eighteen MD=11Fs active and conversion of other MD-11s to 11Fs was continuing.
