Embraer - E-170

Embraer created a family of four new generation aircraft designed specifically to serve markets that require jet aircraft with a capacity of 70 to 110 seats. The Embraer 170 and Embraer 175 have 95% commonality. Embraer simultaneously announced their new model 170 and 190 in February 1999, launching both aircraft in June 1999 at the Paris Air Show. The first flight of the E-170 was in February 2002 and the aircraft achieved certification in April 2004. The E-170 entered service with launch customer LOT Polish Airlines in March 2004. Officially, the Embraer 170, along with the rest of the E-Jet family, is prefixed with ERJ. However, Embraer dropped this prefix for marketing purposes. The 170 is available in standard, LR and AR variants.
