Embraer designs, manufactures, sells and supports aircraft for commercial and military markets.
Embraer has a well established family of regional airliners, ranging from the EMB 120 Brasilia turboprop to the ERJ 135, ERJ 140 and 145 jets. A new family has been launched with the ERJ 170, ERJ 190-100 and 190-200 with the first appearing in 2002. Also offered is the Legacy, a corporate jet based on the ERJ 135 airframe.
Embraer supplies military adaptations of the ERJ 145 including AEW&C, RS/AGS and MP/ASW variants. Other military aircraft include the AMX fighter/lead-in trainer (in partnership with Alenia) and the Tucano trainer. March 19th 2009, Embraer launched the Lifetime Program which has been developed to support Embraer's ECC Leasing subsidiary activities while the comprehensive support package can be customize to the requirements of the pre owned commercial aircraft customers by choice of product and service available.
Embraer was founded by the Brazilian government on the 19th August 1969. The company commenced business on 2 January 1970 and was privatized in 1994.
Embraer is headquartered in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil, with operations in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA and Le Bourget, France.
Since 1970, Embraer has provided military and civiliary aircraft, parts, product support, and training to 37 countries and 226 companies around the world
Embraer has produced and sold more than 4,900 aircraft. Its market is divided into commercial (70%) and military (30%) business.
At the end of October 1999 a consortium of four French companies bought a 20% stake in Embraer. Three of the four - Dassault Aviation, Aerospatiale-Matra and Thomson-CSF hold 5.67% of Embraer, while Snecma holds 3%. The total value of the deal was some £200 million.
