CAE is the world’s leading supplier of civil full-flight simulators, with over 1,000 simulators and flight training devices sold to more than 130 airlines, aircraft manufacturers and training centres. CAE has simulated almost every modern airliner, regional jet, and business jet. CAE applies technology across the industry’s range of training solutions, from desktop trainers and three-dimensional training devices to CAE 5000 Series and CAE 7000 Series full-flight simulators.
Incorporated in 1947 as Canadian Aviation Electronics Ltd., the company was engaged initially in the repair and overhaul of electronic and electromechanical equipment. By the early 1950s, it had advanced into designing and supplying flight and radar simulators for Canadian defence requirements.
In 1962 the company focused its strategy for growth through a planned program of acquisition and diversification, and a year later changed its name to CAE Industries Ltd. to reflect its expanding interests in diverse fields of industry.
In 1993, the company changed its name to CAE .
On April 2, 2001, BAE SYSTEMS Flight Simulation and Training (formerly Reflectone) was acquired by CAE of Toronto, Canada and renamed CAE USA
