Head for finance
Describing himself as a passionate, driven and “no-nonsense” leader, Andrew Levy joined Allegiant in 2001, becoming the airline’s president in 2009.
The son of a US state department official, Levy’s childhood was spent in Washington DC and the Dominican Republic, where his father was stationed.
He spent two years at ValuJet Airlines before working two years at Savoy Capital, an aviation investment company started by Frank Lorenzo, the former head of Texas International Airlines and former chairman of Continental Airlines.
At Savoy, Levy advised the Spanish government about its Latin American airline holdings, acted as consultant to Colombian carrier Avianca as well as working on airline acquisition deals. In addition to the change in lifestyle living and working in South America, he says he relished the finance and deal-making aspects of the role.
