Gathers, analyzes and reconciles data in accordance with established processes and guidelines to support Program Accounting. Maintains and documents effective internal controls and processes to ensure system integrity and compliance with accounting system requirements. Reviews and analyzes relevant accounting source documents to ensure that posted amounts are correctly classified according to company policy. Reviews and interprets company directives to guide and make recommendations regarding accounting policies and practices specific to the job function. Job duties may include contract and/or work authorization review; invoicing, support/delivery documentation review; contract cost segregation analysis and establishment; analysis and reporting of account balances by type and business; reporting and analysis of metric data; interfacing with internal, external and government auditors as required to complete audits and assignments (e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and testing) and other tasks related to the new system implementations. The position will interact with site and program personnel from various accounting disciplines as well as Program Finance organizations.

 Accounting Theory
Basic - Basic knowledge of accounting theory, concepts, and principles, such as, income statements, balance sheets, debits and credits.

 Financial Reporting

 Information Technology Fluency
Basic - Basic ability to use personal computing hardware and software to enter basic project information, such as, task status, cost tracking, and constructing/building simple reports and presentation material as directed by higher level employees.
Preferred - General ability in the use of personal computing hardware and software to enter project information, such as, task status, cost estimating, and tracking. General knowledge of processes and tools to maintain, archive, and retrieve digital files. General knowledge of constructing/building reports and presentation materials as needed for assigned projects or in support of higher-level project leads on large projects.

Typical Education/Experience

 

Level 1 - Bachelor's degree. Level 2 - Bachelor's degree and typically 3 or more years' related work experience, a Master's degree and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Successful candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Those candidates with an advanced degree or certification are encouraged to apply. This position may be covered by the Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Finance Business Systems Rotation Program (BSRP). As such, you may be enrolled in this program and expected to rotate into multiple finance positions early in your career, generally within the first 5 years. You will discuss this program with your manager during your first year of employment to determine the specifics as they relate to your career.
