Extremely well respected in the Defence industry our client is a world-leading missile and missile systems manufacturer with operations in France, Germany, Italy and Britain, over 10,000 employees and an annual turnover of over €3 bn.
Formed following a merger of the 3 main missile producers in Europe our client has benefited the combined experience gained from fifty years of technological and operational success.
Working with nearly 100 armed forces worldwide our client is the only Group capable of designing and producing missiles and missile systems to meet the whole range of current and future operational requirements for the three armed forces (army, navy, air force). Overall, the Group offers a range of 45 products in service and another 15 in development.
Positioned at the heart of the European defence sector as well as establishing cooperative transatlantic links with the principal groups in the US defence industry our client has demonstrated its ability to bring together the best skills across the whole of Europe, and has succeeded in becoming the prime contractor for a series of strategic multi-national programmes.
Role purpose:
To undertake all aspects of the Electro Optical Countermeasures Group work including system characterisation, HWIL simulation, trials and general study work. To engage in a full range of engineering activities in line with all relevant processes, quality and other requirements, supplying specialist advice and support across projects and to other functions, as appropriate. May lead teams covering a range of sizes and be expected to develop and motivate assigned staff to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their accountabilities. Develop specialist skills in electro-optic tasks.
Ideal candidate will be required to:
"To participate fully in tasks under the IRCM Effectiveness Tasking Contract and be responsible for task holding a variety of activities.
"To engage in the characterisation of seeker hardware/software achieved through the measurement and assessment of seeker capabilities.
"To carry out work for special projects including specific support to EO investigations.
"Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
"To take responsibility for design and build of support equipment - both mechanical and electronic.
"Formation of software and hardware control for operation of Real Time systems
"Operation of the simulators employed within the group and participation in field trials.
"Fully understand EO systems and develop countermeasures systems studies.
"Plan, control and deliver assigned projects or work packages, ensuring requirements are delivered to planned budgets and timescales.
"Prepare a full range of specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
"Carry out a full range of technical analyses and problem solving activities and prepare technical reports and/or presentations to support findings.
"liase with internal and external customers and act as point of contact within own sphere of responsibility.
"Achievement of budget co-ordination.
"TPC milestones successfully met.
"Registers and records controlled are up to date.
"Accurate reporting of activities via log book records, technical notes and/or technical reports.
"121 objectives achieved on time and to a good standard.
"Experience in an EO technical environment or Electronics skills.
Person Specific:
"Qualification to Degree level in a relevant discipline ie: Physics, Electronics, Mathematics.
"Good competence in Electronics is desirable
"Team Player.
"Good problem solving skills and a working experience of the engineering life cycle.
"Good communication, presentation and report writing skills.
"Ability to work with and influence a wide range of people, both internally and externally.
"Commercial and financial awareness and understanding of business strategy.
"Capable of managing own work packages.
"Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and concurrent priorities.
Due to the nature of this position it is a legal requirement that all candidates must be able to pass Security Clearance. This means you must have been in the UK for the last 5 years and hold a British passport.
