The successful candidate for this position will report to the Boeing Defence UK Chief Engineer, and be responsible for overall management of the Boeing's UK engineering workforce. Specific duties include 1) Selection/staffing of UK engineering staff in accordance with programme requirements, 2) career management and development/training of the UK engineering staff, 3) definition and management of rotation opportunities, 4) Performance Evaluation exercises for engineering, 5) Engineering workforce management exercises (redundancy, transfer, placement), 6) Selection, training, and documentation for common engineering processes and tools, and 7) Support to proposal and capture efforts as required.

Manages employees and first-level managers performing activities within multiple (2 or more) Engineering disciplines. Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives. Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

Typical Education/Experience

 

Prefer an advanced degree in Systems, Mechanical/Structural, Software, or Electrical Engineering and must have significant work experience in more than one discipline. Chartered Engineer registration is a requirement for this position.
