Our client specialises in the design and production of high quality components and systems for applications in the civil and defence Aviation / Aerospace markets. With over 50,000 staff and customers in 150 countries they are suppliers to a large majority of the world's aircraft manufacturers, and support equipment in the field with airlines and air forces worldwide.

Our client is currently seeking a Electrical Engineering Specialist to be based in Hampshire.

The successful candidate will have electromagnetic experience. In depth knowledge of electrical rotating machines DC and AC, design construction and manufacturing processes are essential to the role. Excellent organisational & communication skills are also vital as the role will involve working on various projects simutaneously, including co-ordinating / supervising project teams,liasing with manufacturing & sales divisions, reviewing progress as well as evaluating results. Knowledge of aerospace and OEM customer practices and regulations are required.

Primary Function;
As Engineering Specialist you are responsible for the execution of highly technical projects predominantly of a development engineering nature. These projects involve specified products that are identified as having the highest level of complexity. They require customer and Sales Department contact and decision making and internal co-ordination because of new design concepts involved and/or uniqueness of application; projects include AC/DC electric motor pumps and hydraulic motor driven generators. This position works under minimum administrative and technical supervision. You will supervise Project personnel.


Essential Functions;
. Plan, direct, and co-ordinate difficult development and design engineering assignments; characterized by the substantial size or the work force required, and by the significant technical complexity, critical nature and impact of the assignments.

. Review and determine requirements and scope of engineering assignments. Determine method of accomplishment, manpower and facilities utilization, co-ordination requirements, and schedules for fulfillment of assignment.

. Originate and develop design concept and approach, and evaluate, select, and adapt complex criteria, techniques, and procedures to resolve difficult problems and complicating factors. Oversee conduct of development work involved to assure provision of significant feasibility data. Conduct or assign research and analytical tasks to develop data for solution of problems for which precedents are limited or not applicable.

. Supervise the work of the teams. Plan and assign engineering tasks to team and/or supporting groups including design studies, calculations and analyses; drafting work; laboratory testing; prototype procurement; follow-up etc. Devise and outline approaches to individual tasks. Provide guidance and direction, and check work to assure conformance to objectives and schedules.

.Duties regularly involve supervising engineers and technicians and are performed following generally-stated objectives for the projects or project phases.
Frequent conferences with higher level engineering executives.

. Co-ordinate project work with other activities, such as Sales, Manufacturing, Purchasing, other engineering groups, customers, and vendors, by providing or representing engineering viewpoint in various conferences, investigating and resolving problems, consulting on schedule changes, design modifications and proposed applications. Visit customers or suppliers as required to co-ordinate projects and resolve problems.

. Prepare and review complex engineering proposals, performance specifications; technical reports and papers.

. Manage costs, budgets, procurement, and other administrative matters affecting assignments. Keep informed on trends and developments within specialty or general area of activity. Promote consideration of findings immediately or prospectively useful in developing new or improving existing products.

Job Qualifications/Educational Requirements :

Applicable engineering degree or the equivalent and related research, design and/or development experience.
