Global Commodity Manager - Manufacturing

Our internationally renowned client is looking for a Global Commodity Manager to develop and execute global external Commodity Strategies that drive long-term improvements in Quality, Cost and Delivery performance.

The Global Purchasing team is vital to the success of the business and they are focused on driving its services forward through the development and creation of successful relationships with their suppliers. Global Purchasing is on a journey of continuous improvement and the current business plan aims to transform the function into one that is considered to be world-class in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.

The Role

• Responsible for Global Component Commodity Sourcing Strategy development and implementation
• Responsible for making sourcing recommendations to the relevant control authority
• Lead and co-ordinate effective divisional level supplier relationships within the designated external buy supply chain
• Responsible for implementing Lean Manufacturing training within the Purchasing division
• Source engineered components in the UK, Europe, North America, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa
• Develop manufacturing strategies with key suppliers, to establish facilities in Low Cost Countries
• Provide leadership and direction to the extended global team of Buyers
• Accountable for global delivery performance of assigned commodities
The Person
• Degree qualified or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
• Experience in cross-functional working and leadership of cross functional teams
• Experience in strategic planning and industry analysis at Executive level
• Operates Supplier Relationship Management at Executive level
• Broad Technical & Manufacturing knowledge across all commodity
• Strong IT & Systems knowledge
• Understanding of lean principles
• Sound understanding of cost drivers and ability to generate Cost Models
• Global outlook and exposure to different challenges & cultures
• Flexible to International travel as required
