Global Cost Engineer - Manufacturing

Our internationally renowned client is looking for a Cost Engineer to work as part of their Global Purchasing Team. This team is vital to the success of the business and they are focused on driving its services forward through the development and creation of successful relationships with their suppliers. Global Purchasing is on a journey of continuous improvement and the current business plan aims to transform the function into one that is considered to be world-class in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.

The Role

• Lead development of component/sub system cost models using Value Improvement Tools and Techniques
• Ensure that Cost Standards are generated and deployed in line with global commodity strategy
• Responsible for indentifying and developing cost reduction opportunities and prioritising to deliver timely target cost through engagement within the supply chain
• Undertake programme management of global Value Improvement projects
• Create, maintain, develop & deploy strategic IT system solutions & databases
• Manage deployment of Cost Standards training e.g. design & development, control of training material, planning, facilitation & delivery to target population
• Manage continuous improvement of Value Improvement processes
• Programme manage global Value Engineers work-load to support functional load-capacity balance adopting a process to report performance to target at global Value Engineering Functional Reviews
The Person
• Degree qualified or equivalent in an Engineering discipline
• Experience within a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment ideally with cost management experience
• Broad Technical & Manufacturing knowledge across all commodity
• Strong IT & Systems knowledge
• Understanding of lean principles
• Understanding of finance
• Ability to generate Cost Models
• Sound understanding of cost drivers
• Global outlook and exposure to different challenges & cultures
• Experience of leading/working within cross-functional teams
• Flexible to International travel as required
