Support development and design of the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) Integration Labs Test Events. Oversees debriefing of the test team. Evaluates test performance data and authorizes to break/alter configuration. Provides guidance in the preparation of special test procedures to support failure investigation. Authorizes the plans and schedules for the next test activities or events based on results. Guides others in the design of test hardware, software and systems to achieve test requirements. Identifies required skills and tools and integrates them into the test team. Reviews and approves design and analysis to insure compliance with test requirements. Leads the development of test procedures. Applies lessons learned to the improvement of test procedures. Leads others in the definition and oversight of test article configuration and demonstration of conformance to test specifications, established standards and regulatory requirements. Coordinates approval of test readiness reviews, safety reviews and data/control systems checkout to minimize risks. Communicates the status of test preparation activities to management and customers. Assigns and approves daily execution plans for effective use of all test resources. Approves test reports to document test results and satisfy requirements. Presents test results internally and externally. Documents and initiates change on lessons learned and performance metrics to improve future testing and makes recommendations to improve processes.

 Engineering Tests Techniques
Advanced ability to perform engineering tests techniques, including handling qualities, performance, systems testing, structural loads, weapons separation, propulsion, etc.

 Lab Protocols and Procedures
Extensive and specialized knowledge of laboratory protocols and procedures. Ability to develop, review, revise and implement laboratory protocols. Extensive and specialized knowledge and understanding of the appropriate application of protocols, procedures and regulations.

 Test Conduct
Extensive and specialized ability to lead a team to conduct a test, compilation of test sequence, monitor progress of the test, and record test activities while being able to accommodate any unforeseen events that occur during the test.

 Test Configuration Control
Extensive and specialized knowledge of test article/vehicle configuration control procedure required to prepare for a given test. This requires the use of configuration control management process to track and maintain article/vehicle configuration. Extensive and specialized ability to configure the test article using test requirements gathered from test plans, government regulations, and safety rules.

 Test Hardware/Equip Design
Extensive and specialized knowledge of design of experimental models, mechanisms, prototypes, test rigs and fixtures, test equipment, and load measurement devices. Includes mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatics systems design. Knowledge of machine shop tools and processes. Ability to integrate wide range of test instrumentation (e.g., strain, pressure, and temperature). Utilizes analytical tools (e.g., classical stress analysis, finite element analysis, CAD based kinematics) to validate design and document in report format.

 Test Program Design
Extensive, specialized knowledge of test program design (e.g., design of experiments, test plan development, validation).

Typical Education/Experience

 

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position is contingent upon The Boeing Company receiving program award for the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), with award expected in December 2009. Candidate must be intimately familiar with Government Test Techniques and Procedures. Minimum supervision.
