Intern SSG Southwest - Mechanical/Electrical Engineer

The Boeing Company has initiated a joint Facility Management and Business Management internship program in the Southwestern region. College interns from multiple Southwest sites and functions will be aligned in virtual teams to work collaboratively on concurrent improvement projects. As part of the intern experience, each student will be paired with a Boeing subject matter expert (mentor) in order to provide familiarity with regional services, processes and other personnel. At the end of the work period each intern team will be offered the opportunity to present its improvement project to the regional executive leadership for evaluation and potential deployment. This summer internship opportunity will be located in Mesa, Arizona.

Competencies

DEMONSTRATE: Leadership, Communication, Analytical, Planning and Budget development skills in a team environment. Identify and evaluate project and process issues and then develop and execute appropriate solutions. GENERAL BUSINESS SKILLS: Ability to apply basic business principles to the design, construction and project management of facilities projects. Through understanding of basic spreadsheet preparation and PowerPoint presentation preparation. Good organizational and problem solving capabilities desired. AUTOCAD skill is a must. Candidates experience in the Electrical, Mechanical, Structural and/or Architectural design and construction fields is a plus. DEPENDABILITY: Ensure personal and team work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner. CUSTOMER SATISFACTION: Develop and maintain peer and customer partnerships. Seek and use customer feedback, and meet commitments to customers on time and keep them informed. INTEGRITY: Fair, honest and straightforward in dealing with others. Use appropriate discretion and is sensitive to confidentiality. Demonstrate high ethical standards.

Typical Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED.

Other Job related information

Requires demonstrated overall GPA of 3.3 - 4.0, and MUST include on resume cumulative GPA and graduation month/year. Prefer student with 2+ years of college working towards BA or BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Assignment begins when school recesses for summer 2010 and generally last 3 months.
