Inventory Modeling Tech Specialist 3

Builds and manages data sets/modeling records to run models and simulations to identify process and system improvements and support business decisions. Gathers, cleans and verifies accuracy, and analyzes data to develop and manage multiple data sets to run demand forecasting, strategic optimization, initial spares models and logistics simulations on complex projects. Analyzes, manipulates, updates and optimizes models. Uses models to estimate resource needs. Uses tools, models and simulations to identify process and system improvements. Assesses supply chain practices to improve cost and cycle time. Works under general direction.

Modeling and Simulation

Broad knowledge of modeling and prototyping tools (e.g., Matlab , MathCAD, manufacturer specific tools for signal processing software). Broad knowledge of computing equipment and its operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix, Linux). Spares Forecast/Optimization
Complete knowledge of and ability to identify, collect, and analyze customer fleet data, sales and characteristics (e.g., fleet composition, fleet usage, age, maintenance) in order to develop spares forecast, determine correct inventory composition, configuration, stock level and geographic location. Demonstrates the ability to configure complex model settings, load data, and run models. Understands and demonstrates the ability to use complex demand forecasting and spares optimization methodologies (i.e. fill rate, availability, general understanding of algorithms) . Understands the results of forecasting/spares optimization and demonstrates the ability to explain to others.

Supply Chain Strategy
Complete knowledge of supply chain strategies (e.g., inventory reduction, parts kitting, supplier consolidation, optimum flow, lead-time reduction).

Typical Education/Experience



Bachelor's and related work experience, a Master's degree and proven related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Other Job related information



Experience managing/manipulating data in a relational database environment required. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Access and/or Structured Query Language (SQL) highly desired. Experience modeling Supply Chain dynamics required. Experience using MCA Solutions' Service Planning and Optimization (SPO) tool highly desired. Understanding of US Army Supply practices highly desired. Working knowledge of AH-64 Apache platform and Apache operations preferred. Experience working on Performance Based Logistics (PBL) program(s) preferred.
