IT Project Manager - Aviation
This is a unique opportunity to join a global aviation organisation in the IT department, a corporate service that provides IT services to all business divisions. A role has arisen for a Project Manager to own the delivery of technical projects across the company. The role will form part of the IT planning team, working closely with business analysts on the planning and delivery of projects ranging from business change to IT infrastructure activities. The post holders will each manage a portfolio of projects, including managing stakeholders, requirements, budgets, and delivery.
The Role
• Manage a portfolio of operational projects.
• For each project, produce a project plan that shows discreet stages and check points.
• Ensure that each project has clearly defined stakeholders, including a project sponsor, and that each stakeholder understands their role within the project and the project structure.
• Agree the project plan with each of the stakeholders.
• Manage a working group for each project, including managing actions, and collating, managing and mitigating any risks and issues that arise.
• Manage a steering group for each project, made up of key project stakeholders, including reporting progress to the group, managing a risk and issue mitigation process, and presenting options and implications when changes are required, and ensuring that decisions are made when required.
• Report on progress on a weekly basis both to the stakeholders and to the IT portfolio, highlighting and managing actions, risks and issues.
• Manage the change process for each project, including reporting changes.
• Manage the budget for each project.
The Person
• Knowledge of (and ideally qualified in) a formal project management methodology, preferably PRINCE2
• Previous project management experience
• Strong communication skills, written and oral, are required
• Experience of Stakeholder Management and working with third parties
• Experience of working with multiple business functions
• Good general PC Skills, good working knowledge of standard MS Office tools
• Experience of Aviation specific infrastructure and applications solutions would be a distinct advantage
