Positioned at the heart of the European defence sector as well as establishing cooperative transatlantic links with the principal groups in the US defence industry our client has demonstrated its ability to bring together the best skills across the whole of Europe, and has succeeded in becoming the prime contractor for a series of strategic multi-national programmes.
They are now looking for an IT Technical Project Manager for their office in Stevenage with a salary of £35k plus pension, flexitime, healthcare and 25 days holiday.

Reports to: Technical Interface Manager
Role Purpose: To co-ordinate the provision to the desktop user population of an effective desktop image which will support ongoing business continuity
Accountabilities
1. To establish the process, and co-ordinate the design of the Desktop PC Standard Operating Environment for use on supported IM networks, such as Caracal, Sandcat, and MOL.
2. To define the process and oversee the testing of the PC SOE (Image), ensuring that predefined test criteria are met in readiness for final sign off, before deployment to a live production environment.
3. To manage relationships with our client's IM Business Area Champions to establish the requirements for all software packaging with emphasis on User acceptance testing; and subsequently working with the externally sourced software packaging team to plan packaging schedules, testing and sign off, in readiness for deployment by IM.
4. To assess the market place and report to international IT Management, in terms of hardware or software developments which could improve the packaging and imaging processes, and thus enhance performance from the desktop.
5. To oversee and co-ordinate the approval process for Application certification and local loads in conjunction with the IM Front Office Supplier such that user requirements are satisfied and minimise the resources applied to the local loading process for software..
6. Develop and sustain effective working relationships with the IM Back Office and external IM suppliers (CSC and SCC) in order to that all processes and asset inventory tools remain fit for purpose and support our client's business needs.
7. Ensure that the developments within the standard operating environment (SOE) are supportive of the Product Lifecycle Collaborative Environment (PCLE) within the 2010 Programme such that the objectives of harmonisation at an international level are supported.
Problem Solving Challenges:
" Securing effective relationships and technical analysis with/over Back Office Image delivery personnel and overall within a multi-supplier environment
" Avoid business interruption to Directorates through 'first time' successful deployment such that Engineering hours are not disrupted by lack of computing continuity
" Building and improving international relationships within our client's IM Group.
" Working within a newly established international team where processes are starting from a zero base
" Awareness of the implications to Incident Management of performance deficiencies within the Imaging and Packaging area
Performance Indicators:
" Reporting of key risks and issues in support of delivery into the business of the Image and application certification
" Adherence to InfoSec processes such that Company Security accreditation is not prejudiced
" Achievement of technical related SLA performance measures
" The performance of the desktop Image/ SOE, meeting the users requirement locally and internationally as measured through BACS and IM supplier feedback (e,g. Help Desk)
" Feedback on international BO/FO/IS/Network interface performance from senior Line Management
" Avoidance of lost engineering time (as measured by arising from failure to successfully deploy Applications on a first time basis
" Effective supplier management as reported at IM international management reviews
" Review and monitor actual expenditure against forecast (budget management) within projects for software packaging and deployment, reporting as directed
Skills and Knowledge:
" Significant and proven experience and knowledge of packaging methodologies and technologies
" Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
" Detailed knowledge of working within a Microsoft Windows XP environment
" Strong technical understanding of the methodology to produce an Image
" Skills and knowledge of Active Directory services
" Experience of working within an outsourced, and pan-European environment.
" Experience of IT Security technologies and restrictions within a secure environment.
" Confident communication skills across our client's business community.

" Basic French language awareness

" Supports pc user population of 2,500 in UK
" Through IM Supplier management (e.g. SCC) indirect task control of technical labour resources at a total payroll cost circa £500k p.a.
" CSC baseline cost of £20k per month for supporting SOE activities
